Abstract :

This paper presents a joint orthogonal space time block coding (OSTBC) with modified maximum ratio combiner (MRC) for correcting intersymbol interference distortion in mobile wireless channel. Alamouti code (OSTBC) scheme is adopted instead of the beamforming scheme to address the hardware complexity due to RF chain and matched-filter in general MIMO because it does not require the channel knowledge at the transmitter. The system is simulated using MATLAB to investigate the effect of OSTBC scheme on the performance of a modified MRC. Results show that OSTBC performance is significant only when the combining diversity is order n by n.
